6 ways to prevent WhatsApp from being hacked

There are quite a few WhatsApp hack tools out there in the market today, and at least some of them are simply too clever at what they can achieve as spy apps.

Regardless of any perceived immediate threat, you may want to protect yourself anyway. Well, do not worry, as we want to help by giving you the 6 best ways you can prevent anyone from hacking into WhatsApp.

1) Lock WhatsApp

Although, WhatsApp doesn't offer this feature within itself, you can get 3rd party apps that let you lock the app with a password or PIN. This will prevent anyone from being able to access your WhatsApp chats even if they have access to your mobile device.

Lock for WhatsApp (WhatsLock) is one such app for Android, you can download it from the play store.

2) Selective erase your WhatsApp messages

To protect your privacy, you can use a tool, dr.fone - Erase (iOS) to selectively and permanently erase the data you want. As we have mentioned above, deleting messages is not, on its own, enough. They can still be recovered unless you use a professional tool, such as the one provided by dr.fone, to ensure that the messages are truly beyond recovery.

The publisher of dr.fone and other great software, have been working for more than a decade to provide tools which make a great companion, enhancing your experience with your iPhone.

3) Don't share your phone with strangers (prevent IMEI hacking)

What did your mum always tell you? Do not talk to strangers! WhatsApp associates your account with your phone's IMEI number, which is unique to every single mobile device. It is quite easy to find the IMEI numbers. There are various ways, but someone simply has to dial *#06# and the IMEI number is flashed on the mobile screen.

 4) Block installation from unknown sources

This one is a must do in any case as you wouldn't want to take the risk of downloading an unverified, unscrupulous app on your device, much less let someone install a hacking tool on your device. You can easily do this by going to Settings > Device Security.
5) Avoid using WhatsApp on less known WiFi

Many hackers are able to access your phone while you are using less secured WiFi connections and accessing your apps, including WhatsApp. So, we suggest you stay away from using public WiFi connections to access WhatsApp.
6) Be careful of your communication over WhatsApp

Last but not the least, the best option is to use WhatsApp with a bit of caution, and stay away from sharing highly important information that you want to safeguard, over WhatsApp. They say prevention is better than cure. In this case, it is better to be careful and not spill the beans for anyone to eavesdrop on.

How careful are you while using WhatsApp? Do you know any more methods to successfully prevent your WhatsApp account from being hacked into? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section.
